In this first part of 3 videos we set out on location for a mini tour of the coast in the South West of England.
In this episode we visit the historic port of Charlestown and view an image that we visualize and capture of a boat in the bay with cliffs, beach and the old harbour steps in the foreground.
We explain our choice of lens and how we are going to capture everything in shot we want without ruining the look of the image by stiching two images together.
In post production we chat about some of our shooting philosophies like "shoot on location edit at home" while we go through the images.
This is followed by processing in camera raw and stitching two images together.
The next hurdle is a common one when stitching images of the sea as we show you how to fix a mis aligned horizon and cleans up a few waves that also need attention.
With the nuts and bolts of the image fixed we end the video with a dilemma regarding the format for this creation which we decide in the concluding part.
In Part 2 we "add the magic" to the image and experiment by using a techniques I admit to never using before on a landscape image.
Yes yet another title from super eBook publisher Craft & Vision has been published....

Hi I'm a Pro Photographer based in the Uk. prophotoinsights-wanderings (My Posterous site) is for images I have taken when out and about with my very basic but fun iPhone camera. Check out my other sites
At the age of 19, I borrowed my father's camera and traveled around Greece. This was the very beginning of my interest in photography. It was around 1989, that I came across the photographic work of John Claridge, a world-renowned advertising photographer. His work had a very big impact on me and ultimately inspired me to make photography my Career.
In 1990 I started up my own photographic business doing advertising work, and shortly afterwards I received my first big break shooting Lifestyle images on location for Clark’s shoes. Over the years I have photographed a range of people - from heads of Industry to TV celebrities. I have also travelled to many locations that would normally have been inaccessible if it were not for my camera. During this time I also shot many productions for stock with my work being sold worldwide for advertising & publishing.
2005 saw me change direction and shoot less people based work and concentrate on shooting locations & cars (another passion of mine). Constantly exploring new imaging technologies and developing new techniques I became one of the first car photographers in the UK shooting specialist HDR images for the CGI Rendering of cars.
In more recent years I started to sell my work through several galleries to cater for an interest that has grown for my work as fine art and also launched Simon Plant Photographic Fine Art as an online outlet. A long standing desire to self publish my work led to the idea of providing Digital Photography Tutorials and videos of my shoots and in August 2008 ProPhotoInsights was launched. In the months that followed the launch PPI took off and videos where being used by several Photographic magazines and being viewed worldwide. Both individuals & Universities have purchased our HD Extended videos and snippets are also used for advertising. With a friendly forum and a worldwide membership growing each day PPI has quickly risen from it's hazy beginnings
My work has won many awards and been featured in all the major photographic press in the U.K. and been commissioned and published by many Nationally and Internationally known clients worldwide.
